The first time she heard a dancehall tune, she immediately fell in love. The energy of the riddims and lyrics fascinated her and she just couldn’t stop listening. As time went on, she learned more and more about the music and the culture and she realized that in dancehall, as in so many areas of life, female artists are underrepresented and underrated.
This mixtape is a tribute to the strong, talented and versatile Black women of raw modern Dancehall. Her goal is to give these female artists a (virtual) stage and give them the attention and respect they deserve.
